La Mia accumulates 2,050 Pts for an incredible win on the 1st Web Billfish Challenge.

Puerto Rico's 1st Web Billfish Challenge is an initiative of www.fishcaribe.com to stimulate the billfish anglers around the island to keep reporting the release of billfish and motivate them to keep fishing in the months of November and December. This tournament runs by an honor system code and every boat that submit a report will accumulate points on the scoreboard depending on the billfish specie they release. By this initiative we also have an idea of how many billfish local boats release on those months around the island and the boats also can search on the page to see how many billfish they release and keep a log of it if they want.

The first year we have a total of 63 boats competing on the Billfish Challenge, 26 of them release billfish during those months. A total of 107 billfish were release, 74 Sails, 18 White Marlin & 15 Blue Marlin were the final numbers. Top Boat was La Mia from Cataño, PR and ended with a great fishing week releasing 4 Blue Marlin, 3 Sailfish & 1 White Marlin on the last 3 days of fishing for them for a total of 7 Sailfish, 4 Blue Marlin & 1 White Marlin on the two months of fishing, accumulating 2,050 Pts. and take the lead. In second place came Lady Magic that release 9 Sailfish, 2 White Marlin & 1 Blue Marlin accumulating 1,500 Pts. and in third place finish Evelyn with 8 Sailfish & 1 Blue Marlin accumulating 1,100 Pts.

Congratulations to team La Mia for and exceptional performance.

Thanks to all for competing and hope to see you on the next one,

Gaby Terrassa Bird
